Some of your best lessons are learnt after some not-so-proud moments…
It was my birthday, and my best friend and his long-time gf invited me to eat at a South Korean restaurant in Southwest London.
Pork, Sweet and Sour and all of the other things I can’t remember. But I was full as a motherfucker.
As I now live much closer to the centre of London, I thought it was a good opportunity to revisit the old places from the first half of my time in London and venture back into Surrey.
Nostalgia and spontaneity always got the best of me. My friend and his girlfriend had to go back home, and asked me what I was about to do.
So I said:
“Revisit the past”
My best friend knew what I was on about and gave me a complicit look, but did not want his girlfriend to know.
I thanked them again for the Blackstone CEO Biography they bought me as a gift before they left. I then decided to go to this small neighbourhood that I discovered by chance in the past.
It is literally COUGAR TOWN. I ain’t joking, there was a bar full of yummy mommies, it was a gathering. Shooting a fish in a barrel: married, divorced, single, you name it.
(As a side note, I did venture to these same types of bars in Essex, in small towns, and although Essex girls are ripe for taking in their 20s, they look like shipwrecks in their 40s - overextended alcohol and drug use increase the depreciation rate). Whereas in Surrey, the residual value for 40+ women held up better.
So, when I arrived, my favourite bar, which I nicknamed my golden goose, had closed down. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. It was replaced by a trendy/bougie new bar, but it did not have the same attendance or success as the previous one.
